My Dad and Kids

Here's my dad with Ursula, Olivia (my niece), and Calista... looks like they're trading off who's gonna close their eyes, huh?

It was my dad's first time visiting my house! He drove up here on his motorcycle (2 hrs). He spent a good part of the time at the Christmas Program trading off Olivia and Ursula... putting them on his shoulders and all... hehe I think they wore him out :)

I wasn't able to get any good pictures of Calista due to the way it was set up... I couldn't get close to the stage (which is where she was singing at) because the dancers were on the floor in front of it. And I didn't get any video footage of it because I still need to buy a new camcorder battery :( I better hurry up and get one before the baby arrives, huh?

Bigger Vocabulary

Ursula's newest things to say:
"Don't you 'shush' me!"
"Don't you dare ______."
"_____, you know!"

Of course, fill in the blanks with stuff like, 'don't you dare touch that' 'I have a bed too, you know'.

She says so much... and Jeremy and I just look at each other and laugh... she really has a good understanding; its crazy! Reminds of me of Calista. I remember telling people that I could just sit on the sofa and watch Calista (at that same age) and she'd keep me laughing.

Update on my girls

I have to say that its so very cool that Ursula has a good handle on how to work the mouse on my old PC! Its so cool watching her play the educational CD-ROMs we have. The JumpStart series. Although, sometimes she gets mad and just turns the whole thing off! lol The girl with an attitude, that's for sure!

Her favorite things to watch on regular TV are Elmo's World (a segment on Sesame Street) and Caillou.

And she loves to sneak stuff and hide them. Yeah... if she knows that she shouldn't have it, she'll hide it. Like my photo albums... she took them out and hid them under my bed! She loves to use scissors and sneaks them regularly.

Calista brought home her progress report from school Tuesday. We're so proud of her!

She has A's or S's in every subject. A S- in handwriting... but, hey, she brought that up from a U! lol

This is what her teacher wrote on it:

"Calista is a very good listener. She does good work and pays close attention when I am teaching."

She also used two codes, a G and a H which stand for:

G = It is a pleasure to teach your child
H= Courteous, cooperative and well mannered

Calista was so excited because she made her first 100% A on her last Friday's spelling test. She usually gets an 'A' but not a 100% one :D

We reviewed her spelling words again this morning for today's test and she did really well with them. I hope she gets another 'A' :D She was just so excited for last week's one!

Calista is in her school's Christmas Program. It will be on a Tuesday though! I am totally baffled as to why they would put it on a school night! Not to mention the fact that it'll be hard for other family members to attend! Anyways, she's singing this year. Last year she was a dancer. So, I've downloaded a few versions of Walking in a Winter Wonderland for her to listen to. Of course, they're practicing at school too. I also downloaded two patiotic songs since she's to be singing them as well. God Bless America and The Star Spangled Banner.

Oh, I forgot to mention this. For Thanksgiving Day, Calista said the blessing over the meal! Yeah! I was totally floored! Apparently, they do it at school! That really surprised me due to the controversy over prayer in school. It doesn't bother me... just surprises me. But, it was cute to hear her saying it. I've never heard her recite it before! hehehe Its just so funny to me how 'spiritual' she is and we haven't done anything to make her that way. There's a channel on our TV from the 'Trinity Broadcasting Network' that Calista LOVES to watch. She calls it the 'Bible Channel'. She doesn't watch the preachers... but they have shows for kids... sometimes cartoons, puppets, and even The BibleMan, which is Willie Aames from Charles in Charge.

About that Princess swing/backpack... it hasn't come in yet. The guy said he hasn't received the money order yet. That same day, I mailed off 2 other money orders and I've since received the products from eBay that I had ordered. I'm kind of irritated. I did do a trace on the MO and it hasn't been cashed yet. I asked the man to call his local post office and see if its stuck there or what.

Yesterday & Today's Events

Today is Open House at Calista's school. Brandy will be picking me and Ursula up so that we can go since we still have no car!

Calista brought home her 2nd 6 wks report card. She got the honor roll :) 3.5 gpa. She had all A's and S's except for math... but, I've seen her tests... she skips some problems... probably due to her trying to go too fast. And that causes her to have B's instead of A's. No biggie though. And this time, she only had a B in conduct in one of her classes.

For Christmas... I'm thinking of getting one of those interact TV thingies for them. Either the Fisher-Price InteracTV DVD Learning System (ages 3 to 8) or the Fisher-Price Read With Me DVD System (ages 3 to 7). To aid in reading and stuff. Calista told Jeremy she wants fish. So, the other day, he said he's buying her a fishtank. yay... more animals...

Seeing how much Ursula LOVES playing with her baby dolls and even that one teddy bear, I bought something off of eBay for her. I KNOW she'll love it! Its a Princess baby doll swing. The swing can be removed and used as a backpack doll carrier too! Which is great because Ursula loves putting things on her back... even a real carseat! She'll put her baby doll in there, strap them in, and then get behind it and use the straps to put it on her back and walk around with it like that! So, I know she'll just love what I bought for her! In addition, I think it'll help her once our baby is born... she'll have something to occupy her and let her nurture her mothering instincts while I'm tending to Wyatt.

Its not that I was looking for a baby doll swing, I was actually looking for a baby doll snuggli or backpack carrier. I swear, baby doll gear is so frickin' expensive! So, when I found that swing/carrier combo at the price I got it for, I couldn't pass it up. I'm probably going to sew her a Maya wrap type of baby carrier too... I have some old 100% cotton jersey knit sheets to use for that. I was thinking of using them to make one for myself as well :D I think my little baby will like it.

Ursula Talk

Ursula talks soooo much... she's saying so many things... stringing sentences together easily... the only thing is her pronounciation. Like there are still about 4 sounds she doesn't say and substitutes with other sounds.

Like fart is bart.
Sophia is Topeela
myself is mybelf as in "I do it mybelf"

Than on a few a words, she adds a syllable for some reason:
bottle is bah-tah-no
gum is gum-ma

And a couple of other examples:
stroller is strollie
vagina is jye-nee
noonies are ninnies

Some phrases she says often:
That's not fair! (what does she know about fairness??? LOL)
I don't want you to leave me! (like we've ever left her!)
You are my mommy/daddy! (that goes along with sweet hugs)
Its bedtime! - followed by:
Its storytime! Then she wants me to sing to her.
LET ME NURSE NOW!!! She'll sit on the sofa and yell this at me.
I love you, ninnies! (yes, talking to my breasts, with hugs and kisses to them)
I want to go to your house (to whomever she's talking to on the phone)

Halloween

Aren't they so cute? Another thanks to A
unt Tasha for giving the girls their Halloween costumes! hehehe

Ursula wouldn't let me put the
red yarn wig on her this time though :(( Oh well.

Ursula carried that bear with her the WHOLE time! I guess it actually kind of fits the costume though.

Everyone thought they were so cute... well, for Calista, everyone thought she was so pretty! hehehe

I have to say, that after I finished with her make-up, her eyes were so
pretty! She will knock those boys out of their boots when she starts wearing make-up!!! She has such pretty eyes! I know, I sound like the typical mom... but, actually, I wouldn't say it if I didn't think it, even about my own children! I'd say I'm somewhat biased... but, not too extreme like most moms! hehehe

Here's a couple of other pictures I took after coming back home :D She actually posed for these... It was funny. My mom said she looks like Wednesday Addams in that picture to the right :D hehehe

Aimee is right though, one of these years, I'm going to have to get her a Betty Boop costume :D

Calista's Flea/Fly Game

The above picture was all of the cheerleaders, both Fleas and Flies, doing their halftime show... a dance :D Of course, it was cute :D

And here's most of the Fleas posing for pictures. They should have at least one picture in the local newspaper today that I'll keep and treasure forever, of course :D hehehe

I wish my back was feeling better because then I could have gotten more pictures of Calista doing her cheers.

Here's the only picture I took of Ursula yesterday :) She actually did pretty good at the game. Of course, she did go up and down the seats where we were, but, there wasn't anyone sitting too close by to be irritated with it. In fact, whenever I did look around at the others that were sitting closer to us and they would just smile, so, I'm guessing Ursula's antics weren't aggrevating them, woohoo! :D

Also, I'm so glad that the weather was pretty nice yesterday! The sun was out, but there was a cool breeze blowing softly around us :)

Roller Skating

The girls were invited to a birthday party at the local skating rink. They really had a good time!

This was Calista's 2nd time skating there. She fell alot, but by the time it was time to go, she told me that she skated around 3 times without falling! She was so excited! hehehe She keeps asking to go back :) Another reason I can't wait to have a vehicle!

I should have brought their Barbie skates though, esp. for Ursula. The guys working there can't tighten the wheels so it was real 'slippery' for the girls. Ursula went about 2 rounds with me and that was good for her! But Ursula enjoyed dancing the chicken dance! hehehe

Here's Ursula doing the Chicken Dance :D It was so cute! Then sometimes, she'd put her hands on the floor and shake her booty! hehehe I have NO idea where she get that kind of dancing from! hehehe

My Monkey Girls

Looks like so much fun, huh? What else are Soloflexes good for, but to hang on?

Of course, after this baby is born, I'll be putting it to much better use :) And the bar is that high because Jeremy's doing pull-ups on it; so, we really do know what to use the Soloflex for :)

Playing Nicely Together

Isn't it just wonderful to see your kids playing so well together? If only it would last throughout the whole, entire day! hehehe

Ursula just loves to ride her bicycle! I have a feeling that it won't take much or won't be much longer before she's riding it without those training wheels :)

Such a look of determination, huh? hehehe

Flea/Flies

Brought Calista to her first Flea/Fly practice tonight. The first one was last week, but we had no way of getting there :( This time, Jeremy was home and brought us. I didn't bring my camera :( I actually forgot to. Ursula wanted to be right next to Calista during cheerleading practice and got all upset when I told her to come back. I let her go when they were sitting on the ground, and that seemed to make her somewhat happier. But man... is it hot outside!!! I don't remember it being so bad last year... of course, I wasn't pregnant then either... but... I was so uncomfortable! Good thing it was only an hour practice! I was really hoping to find someone to at least pick Calista up for practice since Jeremy won't be home by the time she needs to be there... but, I didn't find anyone. Last year, Brandi was bringing Kelsey... I didn't see them this time; crap.

BTW, the flea/flies are 2 teams. The girls are cheerleaders and the boys are the football players. Its really so cute! Their only game is scheleduled for October 31st. Kindergarteners to 3rd graders are participating. Calista's on the Fleas. They said they have over 100 cheerleaders this year!!! Geez!

Later, after getting home, Ursula was drinking her water and threw up. She had water the whole time there too... but, we were thinking it was because of her getting too hot. I don't know. The only thing she threw up was the water and the little bit of rice she had just eaten.

Recent Pictures of Calista

Cute girly, huh? :)

Calista usually takes good pictures.

Ursula on Sept. 13th, 2005

I dressed Ursula in a pretty dress that was her cousin, Racquelle's, way back :D

She came with me to my prenatal appointment like this. I put gel in her hair and all :D hehe

And as you can see, she's all about smiling big for pictures NOW!!! lol

She got so many compliments today at the hospital :D Funny what a cute outfit will do, huh? :)

Ursula Helping With the Dishes

She Just LOVES to help me wash dishes... as you can see, she got a head start; guess she's trying to tell me its time to wash dishes, huh? LOL

Just so you know, she dressed herself in that outfit! LOL

Doggone It!

Calista's school is having Open House tonight and I can't find a way to go :( Jeremy's still at work until at least 7pm. Jen isn't answering her phone or door (I heard footsteps when I knocked... but, that could be McKenzie and Jen might be sleeping). Brandi was stuck in Lafayette traffic... crap, crap, crap. I really hate missing school events!

Sleepover @ the Grandparents'

Both Calista and Ursula, once again, went sleep over at Jeremy's parents' house. This is Ursula's 3rd time! Nathan came pick them up tonight. Ursula was excited... all she talked about all day was going sleep over at Papa's house. Not sure when they're coming home or even how. I imagine Jeremy'll pick them up on his way home tonight.

Calista's Testing

This week, all of the schoolkids had to get some sort of testing. First graders got tested for Dyslexia. The testing was supposed to take about 40 minutes. When we got there, we had to wait a good bit before it was Calista's turn. She finally gets in, is in there for maybe 20 minutes... prolly less time. She comes out with a sticker on her hand and her teacher tells me that she did really well and she can see that she's a good student. I talked to her teacher for a little bit. While we were chatting, Ursula found some blue wooden beads on this thick string. Well, she dropped them and I went to go pick them up and the teacher told me not to worry about it, that she'd get it. Well, Ursula picked them all up and started stringing them back onto the string. The teacher looked at me and told me what she was doing. That was one of the tests!!! And apparently, not ALL 6 y.o.'s can do it! Its a timed test. She said some drop them, some take a really long time to do it. Ursula had NO problem whatsoever putting them all back on (I think there was 5 beads) and she did it pretty fast. The teacher was impressed :D hehehe

The teacher told me she talked to Calista about her constant talking during class. It sounded like she might have gotten through to her... I have also talked to her about that as well... so maybe between the two of us, something got through to her... that she needs to be quiet at certain times... esp. in class.

Calista's in Trouble Already!

Here it is, the second day of school and already Calista has not only a sad face on her composition book but her teacher called me tonight!!! YES! I don't believe any of my teachers EVER called my parents about me! Apparently, there were mainly 7 kids involved... 2 of which got paddled!!! Don't know which two those were. I do know Kelsey and Khadijah(sp?) were part of the seven. Brandi gave me more info about all of that. Calista's teacher only told me that she was talking too much. Brandi said that they were walking around the room, talking, and not listening at all to the teacher... like she was talking to a brick wall. So, I am guessing Calista was as bad as the others... but still... I gave her a talking to and hopefully I got through to her. Its an adjustment time for them. Kindergarten was way different from first grade. Maybe the teacher needed a little more patience too.

Calista's First Day of 1st Grade

Today, my neighbor, Jen, her dd, McKenzie brought me and the 3 girls to the first day of school.

Calista's in Mrs. Richard's class. Looks like they have the same kids from last year's kindergarten class in this one as well as like 5 new kids. Its like 25 kids or so... sounds like they need more teachers.

Anyways, Calista came home all excited and happy telling me how much she enjoyed her first day, how fun it was, how fun her teacher is, etc.

This year, that $20 supplement fee is actually justifiable! There's actually like 5 workbooks (if not more) in each desk for each kid! The teachers even want us to buy a bag for the desk, to put behind them, to hold all the books!!! Another $10... Jeremy wants me to make one... I don't have the measurements plus it'll cost prolly $5 to make... in addition to me never making one before... I have no idea how to go about it... well, that's not entirely true, I'm sure I can figure it out... I think I'll just make him pay the $10! lol

Here's Calista's classroom, well, partial. I've named the kids I know from last year. Notice Ursula sitting with her sister! hehehe Yes, she's 'The Mimic' :D

The boy sitting in front of Calista is the little boy that was her 'boyfriend' last school year :D hehe When we first got to the classroom, we had to wait outside until the bells rung. Well, she saw Joshua and she immediately started chasing him! Apparently, his mom was his base... lol Well, being that Calista was chasing him, Soleil, Kelsey, and Ursula followed suit. It was funny :D Esp. with Ursula running around :)

A Couple of More Pics of Ursula

And wow! Another couple of good pictures of my pumpkin head, Ursula! Woohoo! Looks like she's getting over that grouchy, don't-point-the-camera-at-me stage! yay!

I just LOVE this outfit she's wearing. I couldn't resist buying it from Wal-Mart a couple of months back. Its a size 3! And, already, looks like the pants are shorter then they were when I first bought them! She loves this outfit too... she will always pick it out to wear.

School Starts Again

Calista goes back to school, 1st grade, this coming Thursday!!! Man, the summer really does pass by quickly! She's excited though because she gets to catch the bus with her new friend/neighbor, MaKenzie. She's going to 2nd grade; her first time at that school with Calista.

Of course, Ursula says she's going to school too... hehehe

Last night, we went buy her school supplies. We didn't have to buy a school bag since the one from last year is still in great shape. We did buy 2 more red shirts though since the ones from last year are too short. She can get away with wearing them whenever she wears her dresses/jumpers though. Plus, we'll be able to buy more whenever Jeremy gets paid this Friday.

Of course, I'll take pics of her for her first day and post them :D

Wow, A Good Picture Of Ursula!

Let me explain. This child, for the longest time, would NOT let me take a good picture of her.

Recently, she's actually been posing for me! woohoo! Yay! I'm so excited! I hadn't brought her to take pictures since she was 12 mths old because she wouldn't smile and it was a huge headache to get her to even sit there to take the picture.

So, maybe this is a good sign that, whenever I have the money, I can bring the girls in to take pics; maybe even family pics, before the baby is born.

BTW, this pic was taken in my Gram's house (the one who just passed away this past April... before I knew for sure I was pregnant; my last granparent). My sister, Angele and her dh, Shane are living in the house now.

Ursula's actions @ 2½

This is from an email update I sent to the Dec'02 group I'm in... figured I'd c&p it here as well :)
~~~~~~~~~~~
Her vocabulary has skyrocketed! She's using 'and' to connect different thoughts and 'too' all the time. If there's 2 items that are alike, she says she has two of them. So far, that's the only number she knows and understands... lol But, honestly, I haven't worked with her on any of those things... not like I did for Calista.
Like Ursula is just now trying to sing her ABC's; Calista was saying them/singing them by the time she was 2 yrs old.
She says, "I want to" or "I don't want to" a whole lot now. Always asking "why", even after you answer, here comes another 'why'. She says, "in a minute" and "just a tiny tiny bit".
In the "I do it" stage... but there are many times when she acts like she can't do something... like pull up panties or get up off the floor... stuff like that.
She still is moody. When she wakes from her nap, takes her at least an hour before she's happy again.
She's potty-trained and night weaned! woohoo!
She likes to dance but doesn't want anyone to watch her while she does it.
Her 'trick' she likes to do on the floor is to put her hands and one foot on the floor and lift the other up in the air... lol Isn't that a yoga move, Mary? lol
She does flips off of the arm of the couch onto the sofa's pillows. Also just jumps off the arm, but before she does, she'll count, "1, 2, 2" and then say, "CANNONBALL!" which is more like, "CAN BALL!" then jump or fall onto her face on the sofa, come up laughing.
Always asking to go somewhere. Wants to sleep at her Mimi & Papa's house. Whenever someone leaves our house, she wants to go with them (does she just want to escape me? lol j/k).
She tells on Calista or on any other kid around. Blames any other kid for stuff too.
She jokes around with this little face she makes... kind of perches up her lips, lowers her eyebrows, and says stuff in a funny voice then walks away in a funny walk. Oh, and she usually ends it with saying something that sounds like, 'pinhead'... lol Now, I do call her pumpkin head (I Don't know why I do... it just comes out)... so, maybe that's what she's trying to say? lol
She just adores babies. Loves her little cousin, Sophia. Loves, loves, loves her. She actually picks her up and brings her to us... She says my baby is her baby, as in the baby in my body is hers... lol
She still mothers all the baby dolls over here, nurses them, bathes them, lotions them up, dresses and undresses them, tries to put diapers on them, etc.
Other kids her age, she's doing much better with them. She can go at least 30 hr without fighting with them now! woohoo! lol
And one of the best compliments that I've received, second-hand though, was from Jeremy's mom. She told J's sister, concerning Ursula sleeping over there with Calista, that 'you couldn't ask for a better child.'! WOW! I got all teary-eyed! Of course, she didn't tell me, J's sister told me she said that.
Oh, and she wants to go to school with Calista.
Newer Pictures of My Girls
Yeah, Calista looked somewhere else right as I shot the picture; and I have NO idea why Ursula is putting her head to the side... she has done this same thing when I want to take pictures of her on other occassions. I try to direct her to hold her head straight up.
Isn't that a cute picture of Calista? My little photogenic petite princess.
Sometimes I can get Ursula to take a decent picture :) She's been doing this fake smile bit nowadays though... but, this one came out cute. My sister, Cherie, actually took this picture of her while her and her girls and my mom were here last week.
More About Ursula
Her newest things to say:
"Where did this come from?"
"Why?"
"Because"
"I want to!"
"I don't want to!"
I know there's others... I just can't think of them right now...
Officially Potty-Trained
I didn't want to jump the gun... but, I have to say that Ursula's potty trained! woohoo! Its been a while now, actually. For July 4th weekend, we drove like 3 hrs to and from this lake and she never peed on herself. She even got out of the lake and asked to go potty! hehe We've gone to stores, all day long, without her peeing her cloth panties! So... my advice, STAY AWAY FROM PULL-UPS! They just enable them to pee on themselves! I've learned my lesson! I think she would have trained much sooner (completely trained) if I had put her in regular panties instead of putting her in the pull-ups Jeremy would bring home.
Again!
Ursula and Calista slept at their Mimi and Papa's house again last night!!! Wow! Ursula's been wanting to go back ever since the first time! hehe She'd go get her bag and shove things in it, get her clothes, shoes and hat on, and tell me she's ready to go sleep at Mimi's :D hehe
I'm so glad my girls are independent. You know why? Because it proves others wrong about my parenting! HA HA! Esp. for Calista, all I'd hear was how I was spoiling her/them... they'd never leave my bed (co-sleep), or I was making them too dependent on me (extended breastfeeding) etc... but looks like they were wrong! ha ha again! Calista didn't even sleep at their house until she was over 3 yrs old. Here's Ursula at 2½ and not crying or anything; or wetting her panties! woohoo! And they thought that Ursula was more clingy then Calista was... they just don't remember like I do.
What it DOES prove is that my mothering has made them independent instead of vice versa.
Ursula Sleeps Over!
WOW!!! Last night, Ursula and Calista slept over at Jeremy's parents' house! It was only from like 8pm until lunch today... but, wow! That's younger than when Calista did it! Of course, I'm sure it was better because her sister was there. But, no crying or anything, from what I understand! AND we had a peaceful night! THAT hasn't happen in sooo long!
Yesterday morning, we went to the Johnson Family Reunion... not sure of the location... it took over 2 hrs for us to get there. It was at this park by a lake... pretty nice, really. Anyways, the girls got to swim in the lake :D hehe
I didn't take any pics though.
Calista's 2nd tooth gone!
She is so excited! Now she has 2 missing teeth! hehe She shows everyone her gap! hehe
I went to take a pic of just Calista, and Ursula wanted to get in too... and since she doesn't let me take many pics of her, I went ahead and took a pic of the both of them :D
Calista's First Missing Tooth
Here's two pics of Calista's first gap :D
Her lip is busted because of Max, our dog. She was going get Ursula and Olivia away from Max because of the fleas in his area... well, he saw a stray cat and went crazy... tripped the little ones and clotheslined Calista! Jeremy punished Max by making him go into his house. He listened...
Cutie-Patootie
Now, doesn't she just look so adorable and innocent??? lol
Poor kitty, huh? hehehe
And YAY that we can finally upload pics using blogger!Cut
Ursula, Ursula, Ursula
Man, this child has been acting 'whacked' the past couple of days!
One time, I found her on top of the Soloflex... above where you do the butterfly exercise... sitting on that part...
She emptied out my purse twice within hours of each other.
She opened up the doors of my tallboy and was digging in there... one time, she took out this natural stuff that's kind of like Vick's salve and was rubbing it on the toilet seat... also I guess she was trying to wash her hands off in the toilet bowl too... at least it was flushed! That thing costs like $12 or so...
She was digging in Jeremy's top shelf of his set of drawers....
This child was always a digger... but, I think she's going far and beyond her usual digging.
She's going nutz!
She pretends to eat or to give someone else something to eat. Pretends to nurse her babies... but hates for anyone to see her doing it. She rocks, walks, bathes, and puts her babies to sleep. If a kitten or baby is crying, she says, "I know, I know".
Things she says:
Don't look me again
Don't talk me
tiny lil bit (if she wants a bite of whatever you have)
poo wee, I, you, tister barted
I wanna nur on couch
Please hold me
I love you too, mommy, baby, etc
tut up (shut up)
She mimics a lot of what we do and follows Calista around all day long.l
Ursula Today and Update
Just today, a commercial played a brief part of Gwen Stefani's song, "Hollarback Girl", I was washing dishes and I heard her say, "I ain't no hollarback girl!"... I turned around and asked Calista if that was her or Ursula and she told me it was Ursula and Ursula said it was her :D I asked her to say it again and she said, "I did already!". That, BTW, is a favorite phrase of hers. "I did it already, I said it already", etc.
She hasn't been nursing as much... I think I'm out of milk... lol But, she does shake her head when I ask her if I have milk... who knows? At night, I'll tell her 'night night Urs" and she'll nurse for another couple of seconds and turn around and go to sleep.
Ursula Attempts to Say Her Name!
Last Saturday, May 20th, 2005, Ursula, without provocation, tried to pronounce her name! This is exciting because she would NEVER even try prior to that day! We would try to 'trick' her into saying her name... have her repeat words/names... then we'd say, "Ursula"... and she'd say, "Me!"... lol
Anyways, she was pointing to my shirt and was saying that the dog on it was "Ur la ah"... I asked her repeat herself a few times... than I repeated it back and she said, "Yeah!"... but, I still had no idea what she was saying... finally, after mulling it around in my head, I asked her, "Are you trying to say, 'Ursula'?" To which she excitedly shook her head yes and said, "Yeah!!!". hehehe It was so cute :D She still won't try to say Calista's name... that's always "Tister".
And instead of 'noonies' which is what we always refer to my breasts as, she says 'ninnies'. And instead of 'gina' for vagina, she says 'giney' Wight is light. Hehwo is hello.
Calista
Her last day of school is May 27th. She went on her first class field trip last Tuesday (May 10th - same day her cousin, Carter was born as well as our cat's first batch of kittens, 3 black tabbies, 1 black, and 1 white one; also same day I had my blood work done for this pregnancy). They went to the Baton Rouge Zoo... I was so nervous about her going with her class... oh, all the tragic potentials/veritables... But, of course, it all turned out fine.
She missed school yesterday. Crazy bus driver passed the bus stop @ 6:55am!!! Geez! School starts @ 7:55am! This was the 2nd time she passed that early and the 2nd time Calista missed the bus. The day before, I sent Calista out at 6:50am and the bus didn't pass until 7:10am. So, I called the principal about it and she said she'd talk to the bus driver and see if I can have a time, within 3 min, of when she'd pass. I mean, come on... what? Am I supposed to get Calista to her bus stop @ 6:45 and let her wait out there until the bus shows up... because she used to pass between 7:05 and 7:15...
Ursula - WOW!
Last Friday, the 6th, and Saturday, the 7th, Jeremy took Ursula with him for the day!!! He brought her with him to go to his parents' house, run errands, etc. Apparently, she did really well with him! YAY! How good she behaved was repeatedly told to me that Sunday (Mother's Day), as if to 'rub it in my face'... ya know... I'm sooooo glad she does well without me. That makes me overjoyed, to tell the truth. I worried how she'd act Friday. And it helped me to get the rest I really need in this time of my pregnancy. I was able to nap, rest, relax, and clean house. I enjoyed my time alone and was so relieved that Ursula wasn't getting spanked, punished, yelled out, etc for not 'acting right'.
In fact, when Jeremy came home Friday, he told me that his mom offered her a mini oreo and Ursula turned it down by saying, "no, it makes me crazy."... wha wha wha what??? I've never heard her say 'crazy'. And again, she turned down a lollipop offered to her by someone at a horse store or someplace related to horses. She said, 'no' and walked away! woohoo! That's my girl!
Now, how proud am I about that? hehe That and her doing so well with her daddy :D It was a nice weekend :D
Calista @ 6 yrs 2 mths
She's still a tiny girl :) But, I have been buying her size 6 dresses :) She wears about a size 11 shoe now :D She's getting bigger! woohoo!
School. She's doing well in school, so it seems. So far, every report card has had all "A's", "S's", and in conduct, "N's". Every Friday she has a spelling test. Except for the one time when I accidently reviewed the wrong spelling words with her, she's made 100% on them :D Her little boyfriend is still Joshua :)
Social. There's 2nd grader named Kori that comes over sometimes to play with both of my girls. She's a pretty little girl. Her gram lives behind us. She told me that she puts Kori in those glitz pageants. Calista really hasn't talked about Kelsey too much lately. She does talk about the some of the kids on the bus. This little girl, Christina, was, at one time, a meanie to her; now she's her friend and gives her things! She's given her a Bratz movie and a little wallet and a cookie! The kids she talks about are: Joshua, Wyatt, Christian, Keon (the bad one in class), Cody, Jaylen (says she goes to speach), umm... my mind is drawing a blank...
Sleep. This kid can sleep. Sleep anywhere and sleep well! If there's clothes, pillows, blankets, whatever on her bed, she will be hidden underneath when I go to wake her in the mornings. And talk about hard to get her up... only a handful of times has she gotten up without me repeatedly trying to get her up... by tickling, flipping, pulling, poking, etc... lol I wish I could sleep as good as she does! This child has even been asking me if she can 'skip' school instead of getting out of bed... "I'm so tired!".
TV. She loves CyberChase and Maya & Miguel on PBS. Actually, she loves to watch PBS, no matter what cartoon or kid show is on.
Color. Purple and pink
Sometimes she fustrates me because it seems like she should understand what I tell her... maybe its just a phase... but, I'll have to tell her at least 5 times to do something, threaten to punish her or something before she listens.
I love that child so much. She's precocious. Funny. Loving/lovable.
She even hugs my belly and talks to the baby already :)
Ursula - 28 mths
Her favorite word to say, besides "no!" is "why?"... lol
She still nurses quite a bit. How much? Hmm... Let's see... Starting at bedtime... she'll either nurse to go to sleep or go grab a pillow and blanket and put herself to sleep in the living room. Then, usually 2 to 3 hrs later, she'll want to nurse. Then, she'll want to nurse around 3am and 5:45am. Sometimes she nurses more, sometimes less... guess depending on how well she's sleeping that night, how she's feeling, etc. Then, when she wakes up, she might nurse a little bit then I feed her some food. Naptime, she always nurses for that if we're not in the car. And most times, she wakes up halfway through her nap to nurse. Then, periodically throughout the day, she'll come nurse. See... she still nurses a whole bunch. I'm wondering what effect my pregnancy will have on that aspect. Prolly not a whole lot of an impact... lol
Sleeping. She's been wanting to sleep inbetween Jeremy and me a lot... like, I can barely ever move her to the crib on the side of our bed anymore; she just creeps back... crawls over me and gets inbetween us again :D hehe
Eating. She eats pretty much whatever. She LOVES rice milk. She likes coffee :(( She sneaks it. She likes Ramen noodles. Eggs. Oatmeal. Toast. Cereal. Brussel sprouts. Cucumbers. Ketchup :(. French fries (of course). Pasta. And most anything else... those are her favorites.
Playtime. She follows Calista around constantly... well, whenever C's home, of course. Its the cutest thing :) Our neighbor has a trampoline and she just loves it. Its sooo cute watching her jump on it :D
Pottytraining. She's actually almost fully trained. Even now when she wears panties, she will tell me she has to go or just go to the potty by herself. Of course, there's no accidents when she's bare-butt. I've even brought her to the bathroom in public places and she's gone :D So, that's cool :)
Ursula has this attitude though. She will cut her eyes at you. Go from sweet to mean in seconds. Angele (my sis) has remarked about Ursula being BiPolar. Ursula will even go to the point of not wanting me to touch her while she's nursing... on ME!!! So, she can touch me, but not vice versa.
Talking. She's doing really well putting together sentences. Her words aren't always fully formed though.
