That's a mighty big bird in that there tree! LOL

Wasn't the sky beautiful that day?

Calista's officially 8 yrs old now :D

She wanted to wear this old dress (its gotta be from the 80's, huh?)... no idea why other then her saying she likes old stuff... LOL

Here's Calista getting off the bus on her birthday :D

Calista's Birthday Party

We did have Calista's 8th bday party at the local skating rink. We had a pretty decent turnout. And I know Calista had a good time (Ursula did too:D).
My mom, Cherie and her kids, Angele & Shane, Jared and his family all came 2 hrs away to help her celebrate.
Jason and Carter and Calista's Mimi and Paw-Paw came as well.
Brandy and Kelsey came and a few of Calista's classmates: Joshua, Breanna, LaFaithia, Gavin, Noah, and Olivia (but, she only came in to give Calista a bday card with a Wal-Mart gift card in it).
She got like $33 altogether and quite a few Polly Pockets and 2 Bratz Diamondz dolls from her guests. She loved them all!

OH, I'd have more pics but my camera's batteries died!!! Crap, huh? And then, I had packed some other 'recharged' batteries, but apparently, they were no good :( However, Jessica was taking pics, so, that's good :D My 'fallback' :D

My Girlies

Here's pics I took of the girls today. Also took some of their little brother. I'll post his pics on his blog and the pics of all 3 together on my blog.

I also brought them to take pics as well. They'll be in Feb. 22nd.

Almost 8 Years Old!

In just 10 days, Calista will be 8 yrs. old! We'll have her bday party at the local skating rink the Saturday following it. This will be the first actual big party for her. Previous years, we just did a family thingie at either our house or another family member's. Gonna invite her classmates, cousins, and neighbors. It would be cool if a lot of people showed up but if not, that's cool too... my kids will have fun regardless :D I think her Aunt Tasha won't be around because she's supposed to be going up to (Utah?) to visit her husband for a month (plus, his bday is the 10th). Her Aunt Tori and Uncle Jason might not be there because she's due anyday for her 2nd baby. I know her Aunt Angele will be there. More than likely her Aunt Cherie and Nannie Karen. Pretty sure Aunt Aimee and her family won't be here since they live in GA. Not sure about Uncle Jared and his family or PawPaw Wayne. And I guess her Mimi and PawPaw will be there if they don't have other plans (like horse racing). Brandy said she'll go with Kelcey. The rink fee pays for 15 kids. After that, its $3/kid. Adults pay for themselves; Jeremy and I are included in the rink fee. Like I said, whatever the case, whoever shows up, its all good :D My kids will love it.

I'll take pics of the kids today and post them later on. They're all in light blue shirts :)

Pictures of Calista's Nose

Pictures of Calista's nose from Jan. 24th, 2007:

Pictures from today:

So, what do ya think? Its been 6 days since the trampoline incident.

Update on Calista's Nose

I've been taking pics of her nose daily. It is looking better. There is still some bruising on the right side. The color is yellowish now. I'll upload pics from my camera once the batteries are charged.

Here's what I've read about broken noses:

What is a nose injury?

When a nose is hit, it often becomes bloody, bruised, and swollen. In most cases it is not broken. Even when it is broken, x-rays are not helpful. It's best to wait 5 days, when the swelling is gone. If the nose looks crooked or different than it used to, you will probably need to see an ear-nose-throat surgeon. For mild breaks of the nose, it works best to correct the break a few days after the injury. Severe breaks of the nose are often fixed the same day in the operating room.

How can I take care of my child?

  • Bruises or swelling. Apply ice to the area for 20 minutes. One hour later apply ice again for 20 minutes. Give acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil) as necessary for pain. Do not give aspirin.
  • Cuts or scrapes. Scrub the area with soap and water for 5 minutes. Then apply pressure for 10 minutes with a very clean cloth (or sterile gauze if you have it) to stop bleeding from the cut or scrape. If the scrape is large, apply an antibiotic ointment and cover the scrape with a Band-Aid for 1 day.
  • Nosebleed. To stop a nosebleed, squeeze the soft parts of the nose against the center wall for 10 minutes.

Call your child's doctor right away if:

  • You are sure the nose is broken or crooked.
  • The skin is split open and may need stitches.
  • A nosebleed won't stop after 10 minutes of direct pressure.
  • Your child can't breathe through the nose.

Call your child's doctor during office hours if:

  • The shape of the nose has not returned to normal after 5 days.
  • A yellow discharge, increasing soreness, fever, or other signs of infection occur.
  • You have other concerns or questions.
Okay, for Calista, there was no split or broken skin. We did the ice. And she didn't bleed that much. There was a few drops of blood on the sleeves of her shirt. She's breathing out of her nose.

Its been six days... there is still a bump on the side of her nose area. No discharge, no fever or other signs of infection. I don't believe it hurts as much either.

And from WebMD:

How do I get a broken nose?
You can break your nose during play, sports, accidents, fights, and falls. However, it may be hard to tell if your nose is broken. Swelling can make your nose look crooked even if it is not broken. When the swelling goes down after a few days, it is easier to tell if your nose is really crooked and possibly broken.

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms of a broken nose include:

Nose pain.
Swelling of the nose.
A crooked or bent appearance.
Bruising around the nose or eyes.
A runny nose or a nosebleed.
A grating sound or feeling when the nose is touched or rubbed.
Blocked nasal passages.

Possible complications of a broken nose include:

Infection of the nose, sinuses, or facial bones.
Permanent breathing difficulty.
Persistent drainage from one or both nostrils. This may be caused by cerebral spinal fluid draining from the brain into the nose (CSF rhinorrhea) and can occur after a head injury or after surgery on the nose or ears.
Change in the appearance of the nose or the tip of the nose.
Crooked (deviated) nasal septum. The nasal septum is the structure that divides the nose into two parts. See an illustration of a deviated nasal septum.
A hole in the nasal septum (septal perforation).
An accumulation of blood in the nasal septum (nasal septal hematoma).
A change in or loss of sense of smell.

She didn't have any other bruising besides on the side of her nose. There's no grating sounds. In fact, when I feel it, it really feels the same on both sides. Jeremy says the tip is crooked now. There's been no drainage. She's been breathing fine. Yes, I'd like to take her to a doctor anyways but Jeremy's been driving my car to work for the past couple of months. And he doesn't think she needs to go in.

I'll post the pics in a few hours. Wyatt's ready to return to bed. :D

Broken Nose?

Yesterday, our neighbor, Kevin, had invited us over to celebrate his son's 7th bday. Not a big party... just us, his son, his son's brother, his nephew, our neighbor, Jude, and 3 other adults. The girls wanted to go over but Wyatt was taking his nap so, Kevin said they could go ahead and go. Well, long story short, there was a trampoline incident and Calista may have had her nose broken. Jeremy thinks it is. I have no idea on how to tell... I think its still swollen. He says it'll look like these pics of her forever (or until its fixed aka rhinoplasty). It didn't really bleed much.

Dancing Girls

This was taken Dec. 31st :D The kids are all on sugar highs from celebrating Ursula and Wyatt's bdays earlier. Calista was non-stop dancing and I was cracking up so I just had to film her... esp. so we could watch it later, like when she's a teen... hehehe

BTW, I have NO idea where she gets her 'moves' from. I surely don't dance like that and we don't have cable or satellite, so it can't be from music videos... hehehe

ENJOY!!!
